Why Does Your Summer Camp Need A Responsive Website?

Does My Camp Really Need A Website?

The short answer to this is... ABSOLUTELY. In this article we are going to break down all the why's and how's so you can set your camp up for success!

Before understanding how a website can help your camp out, it's important to first understand that your camp is a business; more specifically a local business. As with any business, a functioning website is hugely important to quickly and effectively relay information to customers. In fact, a website is often your business's first impression. But there's a little more to it than just having a website. We want to make sure your website can be found so that it can be used! And that is where we begin.

What Purpose Does My Camp's Website Serve?

I want to first reiterate what I just said above. Your website is, more often than not, the first thing potential campers see, and there for it makes the first impression for your summer camp. In an increasingly competitive and fast paced world, first impressions are incredibly important. It can be the make it or break it for retaining a customer. That is why it is so important to simply have an attractive, visual, and informative website.

Aside from setting an awesome first impression and getting your customer's interested, your website is also a major component to building brand awareness for your summer camp. Google is unquestionably the worlds largest bill board and advertising platform. If you want to be noticed and find new campers, then your website needs to be findable! So it is important to not only have a website, but you need to make that website work for you through an effective SEO strategy and advertising campaigns. These two methods can significantly improve the amount of traffic coming to your site. If done well, this traffic will be high quality local traffic ready to sign up for camp!

"But I Already have A Website"

Great! We assume most summer camps already do have a website! However, so many camps have OUTDATED websites. I mean outdated in a couple ways.

Visually. So many sites are built on old methods that likely require a webmaster to make changes as simple as a typo. That shouldn't be the case. You should have the ability to update your site when you want to. This leads to sites having incredibly outdated content that isn't serving any benefit to your campers!

Functionally. We now have so many ways to browse the internet, from desktops, laptops and tablets, to phones and Xbox's. That means there is a range of different screen sizes your site needs to adapt to. This is called a responsive website. Remember that first impression thing I talked about earlier? Well a majority of people coming to your website are now on their cellphones, and if your site isn't responding to that small screen size, they probably wont have a great experience!

It's all in the numbers

By now I hope you have a better idea of why your website is so important and should be a huge priority for your business! But a good looking website is nothing without data to back it up. Make sure you are using all the necessary tools to measure your progress. What's working and what isn't? What do you have to do to correct what isn't working?
